Byndoor: Cattle theft foiled; police nab two, animals rescued

Byndoor, July 12: In a significant breakthrough amid a spate of cattle thefts reported in the jurisdiction of the Byndoor Police Station, police have arrested two individuals and rescued four cattle, bringing relief to local residents.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Udupi district superintendent of police Hariram Shankar, IPS, and the supervision of additional SP S Sudhakar Naik and Kundapura sub-division DySP H D Kulkarni. A special investigation was launched under the leadership of Byndoor circle inspector Savitratej.







To expedite the probe, three investigation teams were formed. These were headed by PSI Timmesh B.N, PSI Naveen Borakar (Byndoor station), PSI Vinay (Kollur station), and PSI Basavaraj (Gangolli station).

Personnel including Nagendra, Mohan, Suresh, Chetan, Jayaram, Satish, Chidananda, Malappa Desai, Sridhar Patil, and Parayya Mathapathi played active roles in the operation.

As a result of the investigation under Byndoor police station limits, two accused — Mohammad Kaif from Sasthana and Mohammad Suhail Khadar from Uchila Kapu — were taken into custody and produced before the court.

Police have also seized three vehicles that were allegedly used for the illegal transportation of cattle.

The four rescued cattle were relocated to a nearby goshala (cow shelter) for safety and care.

Further investigation is ongoing, and police have pledged to intensify efforts to dismantle the wider network involved in cattle theft in the region.
