UTAA chief hints at rift with BJP amid registrar’s ban

Daijiworld Media Network - Panaji

Panaji, Jul 8: United Tribal Association Alliance (UTAA) chief Prakash Velip on Monday hinted at a possible strain in his ties with the BJP following the District Registrar’s interim order that barred him and his committee members from operating under the UTAA banner.

Reacting to the development, Velip said, “Only time will tell” when asked if he would continue his alliance with the BJP—the very party he accused of being behind the ban.

When pointed out that he is part of the BJP, Velip clarified, “Right now, I am not an active member of the party.”

He maintained a distinction between political parties and social organizations, but remained non-committal on his future with the BJP. “Only time will tell,” he reiterated, when pressed on whether he would sever ties with the party.
