Bantwal, Jun 21: In connection with the attempted murder case registered last week at Sajipanadu in Bantwal, discrepancies have surfaced between the CCTV footage found near the scene and the complaint filed by the complainant. Authorities have confirmed that the investigation into the matter is ongoing.
Meanwhile, at around 10 pm on Friday, complainant Mohammad Mukbul (34), while riding pillion on a relative's scooter from Bolyar towards Melkar, was reportedly approached by two helmeted, unidentified individuals sitting on a parked scooter near the Deraje bus stop. One of them allegedly ran towards the complainant’s vehicle. The complainant stated that he did not see any sword or weapon in the hands of the individual approaching.

Sensing something suspicious, the complainant instructed his relative, who was riding the scooter, to speed away from the scene. Without turning back, he reached his house in Nandavar and informed his father about the incident.
Mukbul further clarified during questioning that he has no connection to any alleged sword attack videos being circulated on WhatsApp and denied assembling any crowd at the location. Based on his complaint, a case has been registered at Bantwal rural police station under Crime No. 73/2025, u/s 125 of the BNS. An investigation is underway and further legal action will follow.
When the PSI reached the spot, some individuals gathered there reportedly raised concerns that while cattle were seized during Bakrid celebrations last week in Sajipanadu, no action had been taken regarding the attempted murder case. Officials stated that the possibility of a link between last week’s attempted murder and the cattle seizure incident is also being examined.
