Spate of mid-air scares: Fourth flight in 36 hours faces emergency diversion

New Delhi, Jun 17: An Air India Express flight bound for Ranchi was forced to return to Delhi on Monday after a suspected technical issue was detected shortly after takeoff, marking the fourth aviation incident within a 36-hour window.

The flight, which was scheduled to land at Ranchi’s Birsa Munda Airport by 6:20 PM, landed safely back in Delhi. “Post inspections and clearance, the aircraft continued scheduled operations,” said an Air India Express spokesperson.

This latest scare follows a series of similar incidents:

• A British F-35 fighter jet made an emergency landing in Kerala on Sunday due to low fuel.
• A Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt to Hyderabad turned back mid-air following a bomb threat.
• An Air India flight from Hong Kong to Delhi returned to its origin Monday after a suspected technical snag.

Aviation authorities are closely monitoring the situation amid rising concerns over flight safety and operational checks.
