Trump’s $45M military parade mocked online for sloppy marches, sparse crowd

Washington, Jun 16: US President Donald Trump’s grand military parade, marking 250 years of the US Army, is drawing widespread ridicule on social media after videos of the event revealed poorly coordinated troops marching before a sparse crowd in Washington.

The pageant, reportedly costing around $45 million, saw over 6,600 soldiers march down Constitution Avenue, accompanied by tanks and robotic dogs. Trump, joined by wife Melania and senior military officials, saluted each contingent during the parade — the first of its kind in the US since 1991.

“Tonight, we affirm with unwavering certainty that in the years ahead... the American Soldier will be there,” Trump declared during his address.

However, social media users seemed far from impressed. Several commented on the sloppy formations and lack of energy. “Even NCC cadets in India perform better than this,” one user mocked, while another called it a “sh*t show,” comparing it unfavorably to basic training parades.

A viral clip even showed Trump looking visibly bored as the underwhelming march continued, with one user noting the absence of impressive tech or precision displays. “Isolated tanks, troops out of sync, barely any crowd — this is embarrassing,” another commented.

While the event aimed to showcase American military pride, the low turnout — far short of the expected 200,000 — and lackluster execution have left many questioning the need for such a costly spectacle.

The administration has yet to respond to the criticism.
