Mangaluru, Aug 15: Snehalaya Psychosocial Rehabilitation Center, Manjeshwar, celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India with great enthusiasm, patriotic spirit and joy on August 15. The celebration was marked by a warm gathering of residents, staff members, trustees and well-wishers, creating an atmosphere of unity, pride and togetherness at the Snehalaya campus.
Sergeant Raymond A D’Souza of the Indian Air Force and Fr Cyril D’Souza, chaplain of Snehalaya, were the chief guests of the programme. Their presence added special significance to the celebration, inspiring the gathering with the values of patriotism, service and dedication to the nation.
The programme was attended by executive director Joseph Crasta and trustees Jovial Crasta, Saritha Crasta and Prakash Pinto. Other well-wishers, staff members and members of the Snehalaya community also participated in the celebration, making the occasion a memorable one.
Veena D’Souza, administrator, warmly welcomed the guests and everyone gathered for the celebration. The programme continued with a beautiful patriotic song presented by the Snehalaya Choir Team under the able leadership of Fr Cyril D’Souza. The soulful performance filled the atmosphere with national pride and added colour to the Independence Day celebrations.
Lavitta D’Souza, institutional incharge, served as the master of ceremony and coordinated the programme smoothly. Her efforts helped ensure that the various activities of the celebration proceeded in an orderly and meaningful manner.
The celebration also provided an opportunity for everyone at Snehalaya to remember the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and to renew their commitment to the values of freedom, unity, equality and compassion. The spirit of Independence Day was reflected not only in the patriotic presentations but also in the sense of belonging and togetherness shared by all those present.
Clint Joseph, head of the Clinical Department, proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the chief guests, management, trustees, staff, choir team, well-wishers and all participants who contributed to the success of the programme.
The Independence Day celebration at Snehalaya concluded on a joyful and patriotic note, leaving everyone with a renewed sense of pride in the nation and a deeper appreciation for the spirit of service, care and humanity that continues to guide the Snehalaya community.
