Hyderabad, Aug 15: Telugu actor Nagarjuna attended the Suraksha Ka Tiranga Cyber Awareness Programme organised by the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) in Hyderabad on Friday, where he spoke about the precautions he takes to protect himself from cyber fraud and hacking.

Nagarjuna said he remains particularly cautious because of his celebrity status and revealed that he changes his phone password every 15 days. He also changes his home Wi-Fi password every month or two.

“I carry a phone, but I am always worried about who will hack into it. I actually change my password every 15 days. I change my WiFi password at home every month or every two months because they can hack into it,” he said.

The actor added that he does not store photographs on his phone.

“I really don’t take any photographs on my phone. There are no photographs. So, being a celebrity, I have to be careful about all of this. But I can imagine what they can do to an innocent senior citizen,” he said.

Nagarjuna recalled becoming more cautious after receiving a suspicious call several years ago from a person claiming to be a bank officer and offering to invest his money in stocks and equities.

He said the caller presented the proposal convincingly and continued trying to persuade him when he refused. However, Nagarjuna realised that something was wrong with the manner in which the offer was being pitched.

The actor also revealed that one of his relatives was allegedly subjected to a “digital arrest” at home for six to seven hours by a person claiming to be a police officer.

Nagarjuna said he too had received calls from people claiming to be customs officials and alleging that he had sent a package to Iran.

“They told me I will get a call from the police department. Then a call comes about a suspicious package. You get another call saying there are narcotics in it. When you say you didn’t do, they try to keep you on call at home. Luckily, this relative called the Cyber Crime department,” he said.

Nagarjuna was seen in Sekhar Kammula’s Kuberaa alongside Dhanush, Rashmika Mandanna and Jim Sarbh, and in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie with Rajinikanth, Shruti Haasan and Soubin Shahir in 2025.

He also produced his son Akhil Akkineni’s comeback film Lenin this year.

Nagarjuna has also signed a film with director Ra Karthik, which will mark his 100th film.
