Madrid, Jun 10: Real Madrid have officially welcomed 20-year-old centre-back Dean Huijsen to the club after completing a £50 million move from AFC Bournemouth. The highly-rated defender signed a five-year contract on Tuesday in the presence of club president Florentino Perez at Real Madrid City.
Huijsen, who has been a lifelong fan of Los Blancos, described the moment as a dream come true. “Real Madrid has been the club of my life since I was a child. Since they called, I had no eyes for others. This is the best day of my life,” he said after the signing.

Prior to the official presentation, Huijsen underwent a medical at the Sanitas La Moraleja University Hospital. He was later presented with a replica of the Santiago Bernabeu, a commemorative watch, and his new jersey bearing the number 24.
Madrid acted swiftly to activate Huijsen’s release clause, fending off stiff competition from Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United. The club was keen to finalize the deal ahead of the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, where they will face Al Hilal, C F Pachuca, and RB Salzburg in Group H at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium.
The Spanish international has been a standout performer in the Premier League this season, making 30 appearances for Bournemouth and scoring against top clubs including Tottenham, Manchester United, and Arsenal. His stellar form also earned him a debut for Spain in March.
With Real Madrid battling a spate of injuries in defence, Huijsen’s arrival is expected to bring much-needed stability at the back as they prepare for global competition.
