Arshdeep Singh Speaks on rhythm, Red Ball and Bumrah bond ahead of leeds opener

New Delhi, Jun 10: As Team India prepares for the much-anticipated five-match Test series against England, fast bowler Arshdeep Singh offered a glimpse into the squad’s mindset and preparations at Kent. With picturesque skies, cool breezes and the red cherry in hand, the Indian camp has turned its focus to red-ball cricket after a prolonged white-ball season.

Sharing his thoughts in a video posted by the BCCI, Arshdeep expressed delight over returning to Kent, calling it a peaceful and homely place. “It’s very quiet, not too crowded. The best place to find peace of mind,” said the pacer, who has previously spent two months training at the venue.

Arshdeep, who is expected to play a crucial role in India’s pace unit, underlined the importance of rhythm-building with the red ball during Monday’s net session at Beckenham. “It was all about getting the body into rhythm and understanding how the red ball is coming out of the hand, especially after playing so much white-ball cricket,” he said.

The pacer praised his teammates for their batting resolve during nets, noting that it was challenging to bowl to them. “The batters looked solid — Sai Sudharsan and the skipper were in top touch. I’ll try to keep the banter alive and get them out as many times as I can,” he smiled.

Reflecting on sharing the bowling workload with Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep humbly said, “When I hold the ball, I believe I’m the best. But with someone like Bumrah in the attack, there’s no comparison. The focus is on complementing each other and helping the team.”

Other squad members including Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, Mohammed Siraj, and Ravindra Jadeja were seen going through their drills, while fielding coach T Dilip oversaw a sharp catching session.

With the first Test set to begin in Leeds, India’s serene yet focused camp in Kent is shaping up to be a strong launchpad for what promises to be a fiercely contested series.
