Mumbai, May 26: In a narrow escape from potential disaster, a massive fire broke out early Monday morning at Jyoti Hotel, located in the Chakala locality of Andheri East, sending shockwaves through the bustling commercial neighbourhood.
The blaze, which started around 3:00 am on the sixth floor, rapidly spread through parts of the building, leaving 35 guests and staff members trapped inside. The Mumbai Fire Brigade was quick to respond, dispatching five fire tenders to the scene.

In a commendable rescue operation that lasted nearly an hour, all 35 trapped individuals were safely evacuated without any injuries or casualties reported.
Visuals from the scene showed dense smoke and leaping flames engulfing the top floor of the structure, while anxious residents and onlookers gathered outside. The firefighters' swift and coordinated efforts ensured that what could have been a tragic incident was brought under control with remarkable efficiency.
However, the fire caused extensive damage to several rooms, with charred interiors and smoke stains marking the aftermath of the inferno.
The cause of the fire remains undetermined, and authorities have launched a joint investigation. Preliminary checks have not revealed any electrical malfunctions or gas leaks, though officials have not ruled out any possibilities. Forensic teams are expected to assist in identifying the exact source.
Officials have also stated that structural assessments are underway to evaluate the safety of the building before allowing re-entry.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of stringent fire safety norms in commercial establishments, especially in a city as densely populated and vertical as Mumbai.
