Genelia Deshmukh calls Aamir Khan collab in Sitaare Zameen Par a full-circle moment

Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai

Mumbai, May 14: Bollywood actress Genelia Deshmukh has described her role in Sitaare Zameen Par as a meaningful return to cinema, calling her collaboration with Aamir Khan “incredibly special.”

In the film, she plays a brief yet emotionally rich role as Khan’s love interest. “This role is unlike anything I’ve done before — it’s emotional, layered, and deeply human,” she said, adding that reuniting with Aamir Khan Productions brings back nostalgic memories of her breakout performance in Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na (2008).

The recently released trailer introduces Aamir Khan as a hot-headed, disillusioned basketball coach assigned to train a team of intellectually disabled children. Far from his iconic portrayal of Ram Shankar Nikumbh in Taare Zameen Par, this character grapples with personal struggles while mentoring his unconventional team.

The film also features 10 fresh faces, including Aroush Datta, Samvit Desai, and Simran Mangeshkar. Directed by RS Prasanna, Sitaare Zameen Par marks Aamir Khan’s return to the big screen after Laal Singh Chaddha and is set for a theatrical release on June 20.
