New Delhi, May 12: Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has assured passengers that operations are currently running smoothly, but cautioned that changing airspace conditions and intensified security protocols may affect flight schedules and processing times at checkpoints.

In a public advisory, DIAL urged passengers to remain updated via their airlines and the official airport website, and to arrive early at the airport to accommodate potential delays due to enhanced screening procedures. The statement also emphasized compliance with baggage rules and carrying only permitted items.

“Passengers are strongly encouraged to rely solely on official channels for information. We thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work with all stakeholders to maintain safety and efficiency,” the statement read.

The stepped-up security measures remain in force following recent tensions between India and Pakistan, despite a ceasefire agreement reached over the weekend. As a precaution, surveillance and security protocols at all major airports, including Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, have been increased.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-level review meeting with the three armed services chiefs and the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) on Sunday to assess the current security climate.

Air India, responding to directives from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), has advised all passengers to arrive at least three hours prior to departure. Check-in counters will close 75 minutes before takeoff.

Travelers across India have been reminded to carry valid government-issued photo identification and keep documents like tickets, boarding passes, passports, and visas readily accessible. Passengers are also urged to pack wisely—liquids in hand baggage must be in containers of 100ml or less, enclosed in a transparent zip-lock pouch, and electronic devices such as laptops should be screened separately.

The advisory also warned against leaving baggage unattended, as such items will be treated as suspicious and could trigger emergency responses. For real-time updates, travelers are encouraged to monitor airport social media channels, display boards, and airline communication platforms.

Authorities continue to request public cooperation and vigilance, advising passengers to report any suspicious activity to the nearest CISF personnel or airport staff.
