New Delhi, May 8: In a powerful follow-up to their earlier global statement on Operation Sindoor, Indian Armed Forces officers Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh addressed the media again on Thursday, detailing how Pakistan's fresh wave of cross-border aggression was decisively thwarted.
Colonel Qureshi revealed that on the night of May 7–8, Pakistan attempted a widespread drone and missile assault targeting multiple strategic locations across Northern and Western India, including Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, and even deep-western bases such as Bhuj and Uttarlai.
“They were neutralised by the Integrated Counter-UAS Grid and Air Defence systems,” said Qureshi, who also confirmed recovery of Pakistani projectile debris across various sites as evidence.

In retaliation, she confirmed that India neutralized an Air Defence System in Lahore—a significant escalation in the tactical domain, showing India's resolve to respond “in the same domain and with same intensity.”
Wing Commander Vyomika Singh focused on the worsening ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the Line of Control, where mortar and heavy artillery fire have caused sixteen Indian casualties.
“India was compelled to respond to bring Pakistan’s firing to a halt,” she said, noting intensified attacks in Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar, and Rajouri.
This marks a dramatic escalation in border tensions and shows how senior women officers are now central to India's strategic communication, both domestically and globally.
