Jerusalem, Aug 28: Two Arab youths, including a 16-year-old minor and a 19-year-old man, have been indicted in Israel for allegedly maintaining ties with the Islamic State (ISIS) and planning terror attacks, police and the Shin Bet said on Friday.

The 16-year-old was arrested earlier this month after an investigation allegedly found that he had pledged allegiance to ISIS. During the probe, investigators also found that he had searched online for instructions to make an explosive vest, according to authorities.

A few days later, police arrested 19-year-old Haifa resident Ibrahim Kaabiyya, who was also allegedly found to have pledged allegiance to ISIS.

According to the investigation, Kaabiyya had allegedly planned to carry out a terror attack against an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) base in northern Israel. The minor, meanwhile, allegedly planned to target Jewish police officers and security personnel at the Temple Mount.

The arrests followed an investigation by the Israel Police and Shin Bet into suspected extremist activities.

The development comes after another Bedouin man was indicted earlier this month over alleged links to ISIS and plans to carry out a terror attack.

Abdullah Gergawi, 20, from Segev Shalom, was arrested on July 19 on suspicion of contacting a foreign agent, possessing weapons and planning an attack near the Forum Club in Beersheba.

Police said their investigation found that Gergawi had been in contact with ISIS activists, consumed extremist material and had planned to travel to Syria to join the organisation.

The latest cases remain subject to judicial proceedings, with the authorities continuing their investigation into the alleged extremist networks and activities.
