Chennai, May 8: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president M.K. Stalin has announced that the party’s strategy for the crucial 2026 Assembly elections will be formally unveiled at the DMK’s General Council meeting on June 1, scheduled to be held in Madurai.

Addressing party cadres, CM Stalin has urged grassroots-level mobilisation and full-fledged election preparations, placing significant emphasis on expanding the party’s outreach in every corner of the state.

The DMK, which is targeting an ambitious victory in 200 of the 234 Assembly constituencies, has drawn up a comprehensive working plan to be discussed at the upcoming council meet. As part of this strategy, a staggering 1,244 public meetings will be organised across Tamil Nadu. Booth-level agents and committee members are expected to play a vital role in reaching out to the public with data-driven narratives that highlight the government’s achievements.

Stalin also stressed the importance of digital engagement. He urged cadres to remain active on social media platforms, especially WhatsApp, by sharing content provided by the party’s IT wing and allied communication arms, thereby reinforcing the DMK’s messaging machinery ahead of the polls.

In a bid to ensure seamless grassroots implementation, each Assembly constituency has been assigned a full-time party in-charge. These in-charges report directly to the party’s election cell at Anna Arivalayam, which is spearheaded by Deputy Chief Minister and youth wing leader Udhayanidhi Stalin. Senior DMK leaders including R.S. Bharathy, Ministers Thangam Thenarasu, E.V. Velu, and K.N. Nehru are also part of the core team overseeing election operations.

Since coming to power in May 2021, the DMK government has rolled out a slew of flagship welfare schemes aimed at social upliftment. These include:

• Free bus travel for women,

• Pudhumai Penn scheme (Rs 1,000 monthly aid for girl students in higher education),

• Tamizh Pudhalvan scheme (its extension for boys),

• Chief Minister’s Breakfast Scheme (nutritious meals for Class I–V students),

• Schools of Excellence project (25 upgraded schools with Rs 150 crore investment),

• 708 Urban Health Centers in cities and municipalities,

• Kalaignar Women’s Honorarium,

• Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam (doorstep healthcare for elderly and those with limited mobility),

• Naan Mudhalvan initiative (aiming to skill 10 lac youth annually).

Sources close to the DMK revealed that feedback from the public on these welfare schemes is being rigorously monitored. Full-time in-charges are tasked with gathering daily inputs, which are reviewed every three days by Udhayanidhi Stalin’s core analytics team.

With welfare delivery and digital engagement forming the cornerstone of its re-election campaign, the DMK appears determined to retain power in 2026 with a reinforced public connect strategy.
