Udupi: Astrologer arrested for alleged sexual assault on boy

Udupi, May 2: The Brahmavar station police apprehended an astrologer on Thursday morning, May 2, following allegations of sexually assaulting a young boy.

The arrested individual has been identified as Ananta Naika (51), a resident of Matpady near Brahmavar. Reports suggest that Naika had been operating his business from a lodge room near Brahmavar bus stand for the past twelve years, advertising himself as a Vastu Expert, water expert, Yoga pandit, and spiritual pandit.

The incident reportedly unfolded when an 18-year-old boy accompanied his father to the astrologer's room around 9 pm seeking Vastu consultation. During the consultation, Naika allegedly requested the father to leave and then proceeded to sexually assault the boy.

A case of unnatural sex has been registered against Naika at Brahmavar police station. The arrest was made by a team led by Brahmavar Police Circle Inspector Diwaker P M this morning. Naika was subsequently produced in the Udupi court and remanded to 14 days judicial custody.
