Bommai, DKS trade barbs over PM Modi's 'infiltrator' remark

Bengaluru, Apr 23 (IANS): Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in the state, the BJP and the Congress is Karntaka on Monday engaged in a bitter war of words over Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ‘infiltrator’ remark made at a rally in Rajasthan's Banswara on Sunday.

"The Congress manifesto says they will calculate the gold held by the mothers and sisters, and distribute that property. Distribute it to whom? Among 'infiltrators' and families with more children. Manmohan Singh's government had said that Muslims have the first right on the country's assets," the Prime Minister had said during the rally.

Attacking the BJP over the PM's remarks, Karnataka Deputy CM and state Congress President D.K. Shivakumar accused the party of torturing the minority community.

Rebutting Shivakumar's claims, former Karnataka Chief Minister and BJP candidate for the Haveri Lok Sabha seat, Basavaraj Bommai, claimed that the population in the Muslim countries is on the decline, but it is increasing in Bharat.

“Our state is a home to all religions. Yet, the BJP is creating a situation where one community is tortured to such an extent that they are forced to leave the country,” Shivakumar said in Bengaluru.

"The BJP leaders are claiming that they will change the Constitution. We are acting as per the Constitution. In this background, there is no room for protecting anyone who commits a crime,” he added.

Commenting on 'appeasement' politics, Shivakumar said the Prime Minister took oath in the name of the Constitution, and he should know that all people are equal in this country. Any discrimination will send out a bad message to the country and the world.”

Reacting to Shivakumar's remarks, Bommai said that if Muslims feel safe anywhere in the world, it is in Bharat.

“The population of Muslims is increasing in India, but decreasing in the other Islamic nations. Shivakumar must understand this first and not make remarks to appease one particular community for votes,” Bommai said.

The number of communal clashes in the state was the highest during the Congress rule which can be proven with evidence, Bommai claimed.

Not only muslim, even if any human votes for Modi, then it is shameful. My dear brothers, just imagine for a moment how a Muslim wil feel when PM himself spreads hate. So many lynchings happening, students in manipal was called terrorist by his teacher. Just imagine, won't a Muslim lose hopes in our country's secularism when his neighbour, friend itself votes for people who hate wat he represents

I was shocked a PM our country giving election speech in UP on NDTV and publicly attacking one community in particular about the number of children they have. Then he went on to say that if Congress came to power they will confiscate all gold jewellery from Hindu mothers and sisters and distribute to minorities . As PM of a democratic country he should treat all people the same irrespective of their cast and religion. If he is using this to gain votes then one should think whether he is fit to be a PM?. Election Commission is sleeping or avoiding working against their master. People should wake up and consider whether they want a PM who divides the nation. Why is he so scared of Congress who are minority with about 45 seats in Parliament ?.

Correction: Modi's parents produced 6 children Yogi's parents produced 8 children Amit shah... and the list goes on and on. Actually, the rumor of taking away gold was doing the rounds during the regime of this communal central govt. Maybe if the BJP/NDA is back to power people will know whose mangalsutra will be taken and to whom it will be given. Any how majority of general public are not blind like the Andh bhakts. They will vote wisely and BJP knows very well of the survey conducted after the first phase and who is leading.

It is a clear hate speech against the muslims shamefully done by the PM based on a fake news against Manmohan Singh old speech. But sadly , there is a big section in the society which was desperate to hear this. Like how Kangana ranaut said the we want modiji of 2002. And then people say that they vote for development is just as fake as it gets

Political mileage out of communal issues is the only trick of the bajapa from its inception... Now PM too has lowered himself to his actual levels... Development issues have taken a back seat... A seemingly personal rivalry attack in Hubli has been blown out of proportions as if it was directed by remote control... How lower can bajapa politics go???!!!...

IF the PM claims that there are 'infiltrators' in India he is acknowledging his failure that allowed them in, both in Ladakh and elsewhere and his failure to get them out.
