Mangaluru, Mar 2: BJP district president Sathish Kumpala said that anyone who believes in BJP’s ideology is welcome and so is Arun Kumar Puthila.

Speaking to the media during a press conference held on Saturday, March 2, at the BJP office, Bunts Hostel, Sathish Kumpala stated, "Some time ago, Arun Kumar Puthila approached us, and we informed him that as BJP is a national party, we adhere to our own policies and strategies. It is not that we are opposed to Arun Kumar Puthila joining, but we have already discussed with him the process of joining the party, emphasizing that major decisions could be made after he officially becomes a member."

He continued, "Additionally, our state leader has personally engaged with Arun Kumar regarding this matter, reiterating that there is no disparity among our candidates at all levels. We extended invitations to him, but it remains unclear why he has not agreed to join. He should clarify his reasons for declining despite assurances from the State president. Presently, discussions are ongoing, and we remain optimistic that this issue can be resolved through dialogue."

When questioned about Arun Kumar's potential participation in the elections without formally joining BJP, and whether Arun Kumar is indeed needed for BJP, Sathish Kumpala responded, "We can only speak to what has transpired in our presence. We have clearly communicated to him that once he becomes a part of the party, the process will proceed smoothly. He is aware of this, and we are making efforts to convey this message effectively. Our invitations extend not only to Arun Kumar but to anyone with a genuine intent. Regarding concerns about BJP appearing lenient, it is important to understand that our state president's invitation for discussion does not signify a softening stance by BJP. We welcome anyone who aligns with our principles, regardless of their background. Our invitations have been extended, and beyond that, there is little more we can do."

Sunil, Gopal Krishna Hegde, Vidya Gowri, Purshotam, R C Narayan and others were present.

In Mangalore the BJP can loose the election only if there is a strong Congress candidate, whereas in Udupi the BJP will be defeated because of infighting.
