Mangaluru, Nov 29: The additional district and sessions court convicted and sentenced a 29-year-old man to six years of rigorous imprisonment and ordered to pay a fine of Rs 20,000 for sexually assaulting a minor girl.
Vijay Pravin Cutinha (29) is the accused who has to undergo the imprisonment and pay the fine. He will have to undergo another six months ordinary imprisonment if he fails to pay the fine. The court has slapped another three year’s rigorous imprisonment under IPC section 354 and a fine of Rs 10,000 on him. The accused has been ordered to undergo another three months imprisonment if he fails to pay the amount. The court has also asked the government to pay Rs one lac to the victim as compensation.
The minor girl had come to buy eatables at a shop at Amblamogaru, Konaje police limits on April 20, 2022. Vijay who had come to buy beedies meanwhile had sexually assaulted the girl. A case in this connection was registered at Konaje police station. Inspector Sharanappa Bhandary had conducted investigation and submitted the chargesheet to the court.
