New Delhi, Sep 10: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against seven foreign nationals — six Ukrainians and one American — in connection with their alleged illegal entry into Myanmar from India and the provision of drone warfare training to Myanmar-based ethnic armed groups.

According to the NIA investigation, the accused arrived in India in December 2025 before allegedly crossing the border illegally and travelling to Victoria Camp in Myanmar. They are accused of training members of groups, including the Chin National Front (CNF) and the Kachin Independence Army (KIA), in drone warfare, drone operations, assembly and jamming technology.

The chargesheet was filed on September 8 under the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, as the statutory deadline for filing it was approaching, NIA sources said.

The probe has so far found no conclusive evidence to establish that the accused were involved in activities directed against India or that they had provided training to Indian insurgent groups. However, investigators have not ruled out a possible India link and are continuing to examine electronic data while pursuing further investigations abroad.

The NIA is also continuing its investigation into suspected offences under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) to determine whether the accused had links with Indian insurgent groups or were involved in activities prejudicial to India's security.
