Bantwal: Police seize truck laden with rice for lack of documents

Bantwal, Apr 2: A case of rice transportation without proper documentation in accordance with the election code of conduct was discovered in the taluk during vehicle checks by police in Farangipet on the night of March 31. Bantwal rural police seized a truck and rice worth Rs 13 lacs.

The truck driver, Sunil, a resident of Nelamangala in Bengaluru, has been charged in connection with the case. However, it is unclear who owns the rice and where it was intended to be delivered.

The police confiscated 300 bags of rice, each weighing 50 kg, totaling 15,000 kg and worth Rs 6 lakh from the accused. In addition, the truck, worth Rs 7 lakh, was also taken into police custody.
