Kalburgi, March 23: Hindus, Muslims and Christians together ushered in the Ugadi New Year in the Sufi land symbolising communal amity and harmony.

Members of all the communities gave the festival a new meaning as they offered one another a cup of juice that was prepared for the occasion to beat the summer heat.

While Muslim women wore burqas, Hindu Math heads wore saffron coloured clothes and Christians wore a cross around their necks as they came together and wished one another while celebrating the festival.

The event was organised by Souharda Samithi.

Hindus offered a cup of juice made of 'Bevu and Bella' (neem and jaggery) to people of other faiths and welcomed them for the festivities. In response, Muslims and Christians greeted the Hindus on the occasion of Ugadi by also offering one another bevu and bella.

No effect on BJP’s ‘Hindu Khatre Mein Hai’. People from different religion are coming together as children of Bharath Matha.
