Goa FDA orders recall of substandard ghee, cumin powder

Panaji, Oct 7: The Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration (FDA), Goa, has ordered an immediate ban and recall of substandard ghee products from Shree Saras, Gokul and Shraddha, along with Everest Cumin Powder, following food safety alerts issued by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).

The action was taken in response to FSSAI orders dated September 21 and October 1, 2026. The recalled products include Shree Saras Ghee, Gokul Cow Ghee, Shree Saras Cow Ghee, Shraddha Cow Ghee, Shraddha Ghee and Everest Cumin Powder.

The recall covers all batches of the affected ghee products, while the affected Everest Cumin Powder bears batch number E080668761.

Food business operators have been directed to immediately stop the sale of the affected products and isolate existing stocks. Consumers have also been advised not to purchase or consume the recalled products.

The Goa FDA has urged businesses and consumers to comply with the recall instructions in the interest of food safety.
