We commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr S Radhakrishnan, the first Vice President of India as Teachers’ Day, we are reminded of the dignity, responsibility and profound importance of the teaching profession. His life and legacy inspire us to recognise the teacher not merely as an educator, but as a powerful influence in shaping individuals and society. Henry Adams aptly observed, “A teacher affects eternity; they can never tell where their influence stops.” These words capture the extraordinary responsibility and privilege entrusted to every teacher. A lesson taught, a word of encouragement, an act of patience or a moment of compassion can leave an imprint on a young mind that lasts a lifetime.

While technology plays its part, teachers possess the remarkable ability to ignite curiosity, build confidence, nurture character, inspire courage, and open new possibilities for every child. Their role extends far beyond completing a syllabus or preparing students for examinations. They are shaping the citizens, leaders, innovators, parents and change makers of tomorrow. The true measure of a teacher cannot be defined solely by marks or academic achievements. It lies in the courage they inspire, the values they instill, the dreams they nurture and the confidence they build. A child may forget a lesson or formula, but will always remember the teacher who believed in them, encouraged them and helped them recognise their potential.

On this Teachers’ Day, let us celebrate educators who lead not only through their words, but through their character, conduct and example. Their influence reaches far beyond the classroom, creating ripples of positive change that can extend across generations. May God bless every teacher with wisdom, strength, patience and grace as they continue this noble calling. To every teacher who gives their time, heart and dedication to shaping young lives, we extend our deepest gratitude. Your contribution is not simply to education—it is to shaping minds, nurturing dreams, and building the future, one child at a time.

To submit your article / poem / short story to Daijiworld, please email it to news@daijiworld.com mentioning 'Article/poem submission for daijiworld' in the subject line. Please note the following:

  • The article / poem / short story should be original and previously unpublished in other websites except in the personal blog of the author. We will cross-check the originality of the article, and if found to be copied from another source in whole or in parts without appropriate acknowledgment, the submission will be rejected.
  • The author of the poem / article / short story should include a brief self-introduction limited to 500 characters and his/her recent picture (optional). Pictures relevant to the article may also be sent (optional), provided they are not bound by copyright. Travelogues should be sent along with relevant pictures not sourced from the Internet. Travelogues without relevant pictures will be rejected.
  • In case of a short story / article, the write-up should be at least one-and-a-half pages in word document in Times New Roman font 12 (or, about 700-800 words). Contributors are requested to keep their write-ups limited to a maximum of four pages. Longer write-ups may be sent in parts to publish in installments. Each installment should be sent within a week of the previous installment. A single poem sent for publication should be at least 3/4th of a page in length. Multiple short poems may be submitted for single publication.
  • All submissions should be in Microsoft Word format or text file. Pictures should not be larger than 1000 pixels in width, and of good resolution. Pictures should be attached separately in the mail and may be numbered if the author wants them to be placed in order.
  • Submission of the article / poem / short story does not automatically entail that it would be published. Daijiworld editors will examine each submission and decide on its acceptance/rejection purely based on merit.
  • Daijiworld reserves the right to edit the submission if necessary for grammar and spelling, without compromising on the author's tone and message.
  • Daijiworld reserves the right to reject submissions without prior notice. Mails/calls on the status of the submission will not be entertained. Contributors are requested to be patient.
  • The article / poem / short story should not be targeted directly or indirectly at any individual/group/community. Daijiworld will not assume responsibility for factual errors in the submission.
  • Once accepted, the article / poem / short story will be published as and when we have space. Publication may take up to four weeks from the date of submission of the write-up, depending on the number of submissions we receive. No author will be published twice in succession or twice within a fortnight.
  • Time-bound articles (example, on Mother's Day) should be sent at least a week in advance. Please specify the occasion as well as the date on which you would like it published while sending the write-up.

    Yes yes ...Henry baab, we students too are not less. We are one step forward in nick naming them. My memory is still fresh ...just last month, one of my friends, mentioned some nick names for the news on the gathering of alumini's....He mentioned some of the nick names like GAmpa, Torino, Dhomappa, Manjaiah, Khairana and Puli Munchi mr.Pinto ..isn't it ? In our college one of our sirs who was very tall, used to say "if" most of the times..so we named him as IFA, one sir used to giggle, so nickname was heee heee heee sir, then kappe muchida baay, one sir during English period said "pitcho" instead of saying "ran away" so, his name permanently baptized as Pitcho sir. There is one proverb modalu banda kivigalintha nantra banda kombugalu bhaari bhayankara joru. What do you say Kujuma sir ?

    Draw your own conclusions and this is what I remember from my school days.... ಕೋಣ .... ಕೋಣ ಬೆಳೆದ ಹಾಗೆ ಬೆಳೆದಿದ್ದೀಯ... ಕತ್ತೆ ಮೇಯಿಸಲಿಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗು ...ಮೂರ್ಖ ಶಿಕಾಮಣಿ ಬರಬರುತ್ತಾ ರಾಯನ ಕುದುರೆ ಕತ್ತೆ ಆಯಿತು ಹನುಮಂತ... ಈಗಲೇ ಬಾಲ ಬಿಚ್ಚಿಲಿಕ್ಕೆ ಶುರು ಮಾಡಿದೀಯಾ? ಲುಂಗಿ ಸುತ್ಕೊಂಡು ಶಾಲೆಗೆ ಬರ್ಬೇಕು ... ಬಿಚ್ಚಿಲಿಕ್ಕೆ ಸುಲಭ ಆಗುತ್ತದೆ ಶತ ಮೂರ್ಖ ... ನಿನ್ನ ಕೈಬರಹ ಆ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನಿಗೂ ಅರ್ಥ ಆಗಲಿಕ್ಕಿಲ್ಲ ಅಂಕೆ ಇಲ್ಲದ ಕಪಿ ಲಂಕೆ ಸುಟ್ಟಿತು ಮುಖವೆಂಬುವುದು ಮೈದಾನದಂತಿರಬೇಕು ...ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂಗಿರುವುದೇ ದೋಷ ಇದೇನೋ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮ ಲಿಪಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಬಂಧ ಬರೆದಿದ್ದೀಯ? ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ತಲೆ ಬುಡ ಏನೂ ಇಲ್ಲ ಕಪಿ ತಾನೂ ಕೆಟ್ಟಿತು, ಇಡೀ ವನವನ್ನೂ ಕೆಡಿಸಿತು ಮಂಗನಿಂದ ಮಾನವ ಎಂಬ ಮಾತಿಗೆ ನೀನು ಜೀವಂತ ಉದಾಹರಣೆ
