Mangaluru: Short film 'Panjurli' garners good response on YouTube

Mangaluru, Mar 19: 'Panjurli', a Kannada short film about the coastal region’s ‘Daivaraadane’, directed by K B Praveen has received positive response from people and garnered 30k views on YouTube.

‘Panjurli’ is beautifully shot capturing scenic beauty of coastal belt and its culture and divine art Daivaraadane.

Rangitharanga fame KVR, K B Praveen, V J Deepak Bhat, Shreesha Thamankar, Deepak Hebbar, and Sachin Londhe are among the star cast in the short movie.

Speaking to daijiworld.com, director K B Praveen said, “The movie is shot across Kudremukh Mulluru Maala in a span of only three daya. The speciality of this movie is we have shot it in natural light and more importance has been given to sound design as we wanted to create natural ambience in the movie.

“People from other regions are unaware about our deities and beliefs. Hence, this movie will be a new experience for them. We have not made this movie as a documentary, but in entertaining and engaging format with a thrilling touch in the climax. The movie has received positive response and we have executed this in low budget with good quality,” he said.

Apart from directing the movie, K B Praveen who hails from Karkala, has written the story, composed background score and sound design. Praveen has acted in the ‘Operation Alamelamma’, ‘Mayabazar’, ‘London Nalli Lambodara’ and an upcoming movie is ‘Damayana’. He has also composed music for Kannada film ‘Mumtaz’ and background music for ‘Damayana’.

‘Panjurli’ has won two awards for best acting and cinematography and was also nominated for best music and editing for the year of 2020 in Red FM Short Film Awards held in Mysuru.

Dialogues are written by K B Pavan, poster by Prajwal Gore, editing by Sagar Ganesh, photography Pranav Bhave, aerial cinematography by Prithvi Jain and violinist A R Krishnamurthy.

    Its a good start to introduce our daivas to the world.
    So that lot of misconceptions get cleared.

    In this universe it not only we humans/animals/plants that occupy. There are also energies that are not seen are amongst us. They harm none. They are protective energies.

    Good short movie, and hope they produce more such eye-opener cultural icons.
