Bengaluru, Aug 23: A person, who claimed to be an astrologer with powers to glimpse their past lives, was beaten up black and blue by a crowd of ladies in full public glare on Tuesday, after finding that his claims were false. A video of several women beating up the man has become viral in social websites. 

The incident happened at Hanumanthanagar in the city. The person who was at the receiving end of this treatment has been identified as Venkata Krishnacharya alias V K Achar. He happens to be a resident of Srinivasanagar here. 

The police have taken V K Achar into custody after having been thrashed by a gang of women. It is said that Achar has expertise in convincing women about his astrological skills and narrating them stories which they believed to be true and he could gauge them out of his divine powers. He had convinced many ladies that he was their husband in the past birth. He had succeeded in earning the goodwill of a woman and then motivating here to raise a loan of Rs 40 lac in her name and hand over the proceeds to him. 

It is said that a lady chartered accountant aged 25 had consulted Achar to find remedy to certain defects in her horoscope as her efforts to find a good husband had not materialized. Achar met her on several occasional as a follow-up of the first meeting to set right planetary positions and make them work in her favour. The astrologer, during these meetings, convinced her to believe that he had been her husband in his previous birth and because he did something wrong with her then, he could not become her husband in this birth. 

The police, during their inquiry, found that a few women were even repaying loans raised by Achar in installments. This was the first complaint ever to be registered against him. The police have learnt that the chartered accountant had availed a loan of Rs 40 lac on his behalf. She was even ready to marry the astrologer even though she had been threatened by him of dire consequences if she leaked information about the loan to others. 

The angry women who beat up Achar black and blue claimed that he was able to hypnotize women and make them believe that he possesses divine powers. He had told some of the women that he was their husband in their past life, and conjured up stories that appeared real to them. 

Reports claim that the parents of the chartered accountant, realizing that their daughter was blindly following the advice of the astrologer who was misleading her, approached a group of women. It is said that the police have strictly warned him against meeting the said chartered accountant in future.
