Bantwal, Jun 24: The state high court (HC) has ordered to drop a murder attempt case filed against a person relating to group clashes which occurred at Kalladka in 2014 after the Congress convention there.

At the convention organized by the Congress party, friction had taken place. The incident soon developed into clashes. Harish Moolya from Veerakamba was attacked on the occasion and an attempt to kill him was made. A case of murder attempt was filed in the rural police station here against 17 persons.

The police personnel here had filed final report in the court. The third accused in the case named Mansir had managed to evade arrest. As hearing of the case against him was pending, a separate case was registered against him. Mansir had approached the state high court through his advocate, Ansar Vittal, seeking to drop the case against him.

The single judge bench of the high court presided over by Justice Dinesh Kumar, which took up the petition, upheld the arguments placed by the advocate and ordered to drop charges against the accused.

Advocates, Majeed Khan and Ansar Vittal, had presented the case on behalf of Mansir.
