Mangaluru: 'I am not disheartened by defeat' – Mithun Rai

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (EP)

Mangaluru, May 25: “I am not totally disappointed by my loss in the Lok Sabha election. Just like night follows the day, victory is bound to follow defeat some day. Therefore, I will not lose heart at my defeat in Lok Sabha election,” said Congress candidate from Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha constituency, Mithun Rai.

“I had put in efforts for the elections. I am grateful to the voters who voted in my favour and party leaders who supported me. Nobody else other than myself is responsible for this loss,” he said.

“I congratulate Nalin Kumar Kateel, who has been re-elected as an MP. Congress party activists and I will be with him in expediting projects in the region that have been stranded,” he said.

BJP has won in this constituency this time with a margin of 2.74 lac votes, which is the highest ever. The margin of victory last time was 1.43 lac. It is said that with the defeat of the party candidate, some leaders have begun to strike discordant notes. Party leaders say that MLAs from the district had evinced lot of interest in Rai's candidature, and had promised the leadership to ensure his victory. Although many in the party had an inkling of the impending defeat, no one thought that the margin of defeat would be so wide. As Nalin was repeatedly attacked on the issue of pending projects, it was thought that even if he wins, the margin would be decreased. The tirade launched by the party leaders on the issue of incomplete flyovers at Pumpwell and Thokkottu, highway problems, Vijaya Bank merger etc had been effectively tackled by the Congress. However, when the issue of allotting ticket came, dissident voices were heard. Lack of unity when it was needed the most and employment of old tactics when engaging in campaigning at the grass root level are said to have contributed to the pathetic performance of the party from this constituency.

I am staunch supporter of Congress. But your defeat was started not in 2019 but in 2018 during State election. Reasons well known .If you had worked selflessly during 2018 for the Congress party, you had great chance for 2019 winning election. 3 weeks was too less. One require minimum 2 years to work out the strategy, planning and execution, for which Congress party has not done any ground level strategy. Now get up from deep sleep and start building the party. Results will follow.

The power of Hindutwa .. destroyed Mithuns waves 2 Mins silence for all the congress people who taught mithun rai will change Bjp winning trend in Dakshina kannada . Not only mithun rai , if any other congress national leaders would contest in DK then it wouldn't have any effect. Last month when Narendra Modi had been to Mangalore by looking at the massive crowd i said that Nalin Kumar kateel will win by a margin of 2.5 lacs it went more than that when I commented here that day many ppl disliked it ha ha it’s their wish true everyone has their own opinion, I commented based on reality grounds and not to troll congress party . Also even if Modi was not PM candidate than too Nalin Kumar would win but bit less margin coz of Hindu wall. Also Thanks to SDPI not for making fool but for getting around 50000 votes more than last time, if Congress party was really for minorities than why SDPI would get so many votes. Mithun better luck next time also that time try from ullal constituency as MLA but i am sure about congress victory there also coz SDPI will give very tough fight.

Yes, Mithun…. You need to cope with the reality…. Made a good effort to face Navin Kumar Kateel…. But of course you are far away from his popularity for sure. But it shows your courage and big heart to accept the defeat in good spirit & with dignity too…. Most of the time people blame for something else after defeat but you are an exceptional to that matter

    Dear Mithun ,

You were attempting for your first MP candidature. And we are glad you recieved 5 lakh + votes with 40%vote shares.Out of 40% ,25%was from secular hindus and rest minorities.from tgis if we subtract there are nearly 2 lakhs minorities in abroad, who didn't come for voting, while nalin supporters who are staunch followers many had come down for voting, this is the dedication they have towards their leader.

So from this we come to know all n over INDIA congress supporters where not as staunch followers as BJP fellows,so we are equally responsible for tge failures, its not just RaGA or Mithun Rai.

Kind advice to you ,go to every taluk of DK and build a good rapport in these 5 years ,you will surely win..

Mithun Rai cannot be blamed for his defeat. Congress was not serious about winning this election. If they had been serious, they would have started working towards it right from the 2014 defeat, not less than 6 months before the elections.
Mithun Rai's candidature was announced less than a month before the elections. Is that enough for a new candidate against a 2 time sitting MP?
Also the infighting within the state government, the lack of support from the local congress leaders and some other reasons contributed significantly towards the defeat.
If Congress is serious about their future, they need to start working now, otherwise be prepared to be wiped out.

    Hello Congress Supportes
    Good day to all!
Firstly stop blaming EVMs. EVM's are tested, inspected and approved by all the parties prior to its utilization in the poll. EVMs were also used in recent state assemby elecions in rajastan, madhya pradesh and many other states where congress had taken the lead n formed the govt. Even in 2019 Lok sabha such as kerala tamil nadu punjab where congress have no issues in evm's.
But wherever congress lost they have an issue in EVM's.
Com on guys, Be mature and accept the defeat. Introspect where you failed in forming stratergy?. Or else if you want to keep blaming EVM's hereafter then people of this great nation are too intelligent, Dont be surprised that congress will not even give close fight to BJP in 2024 election either.
Note :indian EVM systems which is used for largest democracy in the world. Based on its success rate, Developed nation are introducing the same globally.

So Analyse, form new stratergy, Encourage new leaders,Highlight the core issue of the country and work hard to be a strong party with great vision

Fairly disappointed with the results..I feel following measures will bring back golden era of Congress..

1)Forget Ghatbanden..Contest on own..Congress is the only party that can garner votes and topple BJP.

2)Keep Rahul as president..He has improved vastly...Bring on capable youngsters.

3)Forget minority appeasement..Treat all as one...Primary reason for debacle in Karnataka is joining with JDS n minority appeasement by Siddaramaih..Forget Shaadi Bhagya any any other incentives which oppose others..

4)Forget blaming only Modi....Just concentrate on failures of BJP..THERE ARE PLENTY

Mark my words..If followed above, there will be major improvement in coming state results.
