Feast of Nativity is a great Feast to recollect the past. Those were the simple days more than seventy years ago when Nativity had simple little flowers to display, simple clothes to wear, simple lunch with variety of simple vegetables on the table and much more. In the olden days, it was the duty of the "Goorkhaar" to bring the new crop to bring that is sufficient for his or her ward. Our father was old hence we had to visit many closeby farmers and beg for their little contribution. My father was not able to walk to the church hence we had to walk with him slowly to the church since we had no money to spare for the taxi while rickshaw was not in existence. My father's name was called by the Padre Vigar at Valencia Church along with other "Goorkhaars", and we had to talk with him slowly to the altar and receive our blessed corn in public.

After feast was a grand lunch with lots of Nativity hymns to sing and march to the dining place ceremoniously. It was a ritual for us every year to receive a basket full of vegetables and rice from Pezaar that wee gracefully accepted and used for the Nativity feast.

Those were the days to recollect and still enjoy the glorious and yet simple past. This year our Nativity in Texas is slightly different from the rest. Still recovering from the Hurricane Harvey disaster that has hit the entire City of Houston, while we are once again threatened by 3 more larger Hurricanes hitting our neighbors in Florida. This is the year of prayers, prayers for our safety and security, and also a year of prayer for Peace and Harmony.
