Rs 18 lac in 10 days: Readers give new lease of life to Jackson

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Apr 5: Readers of daijiworld have given a new ray of hope to yet another person in need. Thanks to generous contributions, a young life that faced an uncertain future can now hope to lead a normal life once again.

Daijiworld had on March 24 published an appeal requesting readers to help young Jackson Ronald Rego, whose life had been shattered by an accident. As always, readers once again rose to the occasion and contributed to the cause with all their heart. The result - in just about 10 days, a whopping Rs 18 lac (approximately) was deposited in Jackson's grandfather's account.

Jackson Ronald Rego is the son of Maria Roopa Rego (nee Tauro) and the late John Rego, hailing from Bajpe. Jackson, who worked as a volunteer at Snehalaya and engaged himself in charity works, met with an accident on March 17 while returning to Mangaluru from a pilgrimage to Velankani by jeep. On reaching Bengaluru at around 4 am, the jeep collided with a truck, and as Jackson was in the front seat, he was seriously injured and fell unconscious. He was later admitted to Abhaya hospital, Bengaluru in a critical condition and underwent an emergency surgery on his head. Doctors at Abhaya hospital had estimated the cost of the surgery to be approximately Rs 8 lac.

By the generous contribution and prayers by our readers, Jackson has undergone a surgery and is recovering at the hospital. He would be discharged in a couple of weeks, and then after a month he would be undergoing another surgery along with physiotherapy and Ayurvedic treatment for partial paralysis.

Speaking to daijiworld, Joseph Crasta, managing trustee of Snehalaya thanked the readers of daijiworld profusely and said, "At this time of hardship, people have generously contributed through the medium of daijiworld. I convey my heartfelt gratitude and thanks to all the readers who responded positively to the appeal; their generosity and prayers would go a long way in helping Jackson get the required treatment. On behalf of Jackson and his family, Snehalaya salutes you with our sincere thanks and gratitude."

Jackson's mother and family members also expressed their gratitude and said that the support extended by Daijiworld readers was much-needed and would help him get back to normal life.

We at Daijiworld would like to thank each and every reader who contributed so generously to the cause and prayed for Jackson. Please continue your support to such humanitarian causes in future too.

Your generosity helped them too:
