India’s Asian Games medal tally reaches 75 with two golds in one minute

New Delhi, Oct 2: India enjoyed a remarkable gold rush at the Asian Games on Friday, winning two gold medals within the space of just one minute.

Boxer Ankush Pangal clinched the gold medal in the men’s 80 kg category, while wrestler Sujeet Kalkal had earlier secured gold in the men’s 65 kg freestyle event.

India had already added two boxing gold medals earlier in the day, with Parveen Hooda winning the women’s 65 kg category and Lovlina Borgohain claiming the women’s 75 kg title. The victories marked the first time three Indian boxers have emerged as Asian Games champions.

The Indian women’s archery team also won gold in the recurve event on Friday morning.

With these victories, India’s total medal tally rose to 75, taking the country to fifth place in the overall standings. India have won 15 gold medals so far.

Meanwhile, India are facing China in the women’s hockey final and currently lead 1-0.
