Mangaluru, Mar 6: The city's Forum Fiza Mall reverberated with enchanting music on Sunday March 5 as renowned Bollywood playback singer Javed Ali rocked the stage with a performance that would forever remain in the hearts of the huge crowd that witnessed the evening.

It was for the first time a famed Bollywood singer was performing in a mall in Mangaluru, and needless to add, Javed Ali, the voice behind some of the biggest hits in Hindi music, such as 'Jashne Bahara' and 'Jab tak hain jaan', did not disappoint.

The much-awaited entertainment started with a rousing applause from the crowd. Ali began with the statement, "Jashn ki shaam hai, jashn se shuru karte hai (This is an evening of celebration, let us start with a celebration). Popular romantic tracks like 'Jashne bahara' from the movie Jodha Akbar, 'Guzaarish' from Gajini, 'Tu jo mila' from Bajrangi Bhaijaan, 'Ek aur badhne lage jo' from Ishaqzaade, and many other superhit numbers had the crowd crooning, cheering and dancing.

The crowd was treated to Sufi songs like 'Khwaja mere khwaja' from the movie Jodha Akbar also, thus adding a touch of soulful music to the evening. The venue was packed to capacity as scores of people of all age groups gathered to witness and enjoy the evening of enchanting music numbers.

While Javed Ali was awesome with his flawless performance, he was perfectly complemented by singer Manisha whose captivating voice enriched the musical treat. The crowd thoroughly enjoyed Javed Ali's rendition of his own songs as well as those of other stalwarts of the industry. The sweetness and the intoxicating quality of his voice swept the audience off their feet.

Javed Ali began his career as playback singer in the Hindi film industry in 2000, and since then has lent his voice to some of the most popular hits in Indian films like 'Kajra re', 'Jashne Bahara', 'Kun faya kun' and many more. He has also sung several popular numbers in Bengali, Odiya, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Marathi. Born and brought up in Delhi, Ali learnt singing from his father Ustad Hamid Hussain, a popular qawwali singer.

Nice to see all boys and girls together in spite of their religion. Need more events like this to unite the people instead of dividing them by the name of religion.
