Mangalore University Announces Exam Results in Record Time

Mangalore, May 28: Mangalore University (MU) has announced results of 17 courses from a total of 20 courses held in May. It is the first time the varsity has completed the evaluation in the same month, stated the media release issued by invigilation wing of MU.

MU had begun computerization of examinations and results process related to degree and post graduation courses in April/May 2010. Since then, it has been successfully conducting the examinations and announcing the results without errors on time.

It has been announcing the time table of exams and results in their website. The answer papers are bearing bar-coded stickers in order to maintaining the secrecy of candidates and efficiently used OMR sheet, with the view of avoiding any malpractices or mistakes in adding up the totals from form ‘A’ to ledger. The measures were being taken to avoid delay in revaluation and fool-proof the system. The revaluation of degree exams that were held in October / November 2011 are already completed and marks cards were dispatched to respective colleges.

The application process and issuance of hall tickets related to degree and post graduation exams, bar-coding of answer sheets, coding-de-coding the answer sheets while sending to evaluation, entering totals of marks instead of form A to OMR sheet, computerized ledge, printing of marks cards, the process of publishing the results in MU website, to dispatch answer sheets that are requisitioned for revaluation by coding-de-coding, to issue marks card after revaluation, prepare list of names eligible to receive their convocation certificates, etc are fully computerized. The hall tickets bear the roll number of student, college code, name of student, exam center detail, exam schedule, pic of student and signature, signature of college principal / head of department, signature of registrar of invigilation wing, etc are computerized. Besides, the facility has been incorporated to answer the multiple-choice objective type questions by Indian Constitution; general studies, human rights, gender equity and environment) without the assistance of invigilators speedily and without errors, by entering in OMR response sheet.

Forty-pages-of ruled answer sheets for degree exams and forty-four-pages of un-ruled pages for post graduation exams were provided for the students. The roll numbers and internal assessment marks of students related to degree and post graduation exams will be send to respective colleges by the internet from October 2012. A training programmes in this regard will be organized for college principals in July.

The second, fourth and sixth semesters under MU degree exams that were begun from April 9 were concluded on May 10. A total of 84,565 students have enrolled for 20 degree exams of MU for April / May, out of which more numbers are enrolled for 8 courses (2, 4 and 6 semester):

B Com (ordinary) + 28,004 (33.1 percent), B B M = 21,395 (25 percent), B A = 17,863 (21 percent), B Sc = 5,299 (6.3 percent), B C A = 4,719 (5.6 percent), B SW = 1,179 (1.4 percent), B Com (vocational) = 1,164 (14 percent), B H M = 1,209 (1.4 percent). MU has announced the results of 2, 4 and 6 semesters of B Sc (food, nutrition and dietetics), B SW, Bachelor of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology, B Sc (garment design), B C A and B A (human resources development on May 12, within 12 days of conducting the exams. The results of fifth and third year of 853 LLB students were announced on May 23, B Sc (fashion designing – third year) on May 24, B B A on May 23, B Sc (interior design and decoration and Bachelor of Visual Art on May 26.

B Sc (hospitality science) and Bachelor of Hotel Management was announced on May 27.
B Sc and B Com will be announced on May 29, B Com (vocation on May 31, B Ed (supplementary), B A (security and detective science and Bachelor of Physical Education will be announced on June 5, stated the media release.
