Jharkhand: Monthi Fest celebrated by KCA, Ranchi

Jharkhand, Sep 12: The Konkani Catholic Association (KCA) Ranchi celebrated its annual Monthi Fest in Ursuline School, Ranchi on September 11.

The celebration started with the blessing of the new paddy by Fr John Crasta, the professor of St Albert’s Seminary, followed by the floral veneration of Mother Mary in the convent Chapel. This was followed by the Holy Eucharist, Presided over by Fr Reginald Furtado OFM Cap, the professor of St Albert’s Pontifical Major Seminary, Ranchi. Fr Atley Gomes SFX was the homilist. In his homily, he stressed the rich tradition of Konkan culture and language. Further, he stressed the role of Mary in the life of all, especially priests and religious.

After the Eucharist, all gathered in the auditorium for the fellowship programme. Dr Stephen Chen and their family sang a beautiful Monthi Fest Song, to begin with the programme. Cajetan D’Costa, the birthday boy, along with the children present cut the feast Day and Birthday cake. This was followed by ‘Rose and Novem’ distributed to all. Meanwhile, Christopher Crasto and Kiara Crasto (father and daughter) sang a beautiful song. Then, Andrew Patrick and his family sang another song. Fr Wilfred Veigas said the grace before the meals. Benjamine Pereira thanked everyone. Fr Raju Felix Crasta, the professor of St Albert’s Seminary compered the programme.

A delicious meal was the chief attraction of the day. Various items such as ‘sanna, chana, dal, sango, karomb, lonche, cake, chicken, pork, fish fry, pulav, vorn, ice cream, kobu, etc., were prepared and brought by different communities and families. The programme was concluded with the traditional baila and Laudate domino hymn. Dr Helga Chen was the main organizer of the programme.
