Mangaluru, Aug 31: A technical seminar, ISAP-2026 (Information Search, Analysis and Presentation), was organized on August 31 at Srinivas University Institute of Engineering and Technology, SUIET Mukka. The programme was inaugurated by Dr Ramakrishna N Hegde (dean, SUIET Mukka) by lighting the ceremonial lamp. More than 270 second-year engineering students participated in the programme and made presentations on various technical topics.

Prof Varsha Gangadhar Bangera, convenor of the ISAP programme, delivered the welcome address.

Dr Praveen B M (director of research, Srinivas University) delivered the keynote address. He said that the ISAP seminar programme has been successfully organized at the college for the past 16 years, and so far more than thousands of engineering students have presented papers on various technical topics. He highlighted the importance of ISAP and research in the academic and professional development of students.

He explained that ISAP would provide students with valuable guidance and support in drafting and publishing research papers in reputed journals. Dr Praveen B M also emphasized that engaging in research would help students develop a strong research-oriented mindset and cultivate a research attitude that would contribute significantly to their future academic and professional careers.

In his presidential remarks, Dr Ramakrishna N Hegde said that rapid advancements in technology are taking the world to new levels of development, with engineers playing a vital role in driving this transformation. In this context, students should give greater emphasis to patents and research publications, as research and development are essential for the progress of society, the nation, and the world at large.

Dr Ramakrishna N Hegde said that, this year, a few changes have been introduced in the ISAP activities to make them more research-oriented and relevant to global developmental priorities. Students are required to select any two topics from the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) identified by the United Nations and prepare presentations based on relevant research published in IEEE or Scopus-indexed journals.

Dr Ramakrishna N Hegde emphasized that analytical and critical thinking skills are highly important for students in developing a strong research-oriented mindset. ISAP provides students with an excellent platform to enhance their knowledge and skills, develop research capabilities, and gain valuable experience in preparing and publishing research articles.

Kumari Dhanyashree Rao, student coordinator of the ISAP programme, was present on the dais.
