Mangaluru: Konkani Natak Sabha holds elocution, poetry recitation competition

Mangaluru, Sep 5: Konkani Natak Sabha (KNS) conducted the 54th Konkani elocution and 20th poetry recitation competition for children and adults on September 4 at Don Bosco Hall here.

The elocution competition was held in the morning. Liston Derrick D'Souza, vice president of KNS welcomed the participants and the gathering. Fr Dr Rupesh Madtha, editor in-charge of ‘Raknno’ Konkani Weekly inaugurated the competition by lighting the lamp and wished the participants all success to their future. General secretary of KNS Floyd D'Mello, treasurer Gerald Concessao, and competition convenors Colin Miranda and Martin D'Souza were present on the dais.

As many as 98 participants took part in 7 categories of the competition.

Colin Miranda introduced the judges. Fr Rupesh Madtha, Konkani writer and poet Maurice D'Sa, Shantipura, Stany Bela of Daijiworld TV, and Roshan Sequeira (Roshu Bajpe) Konkani writer and poet officiated as judges for the competition. Cletus Lobo conducted the competition, Martin D’Souza, Colin Miranda, Gerald Concessao, and Deliya Ivin Crasta assisted in conducting the competition. KNS manager Boniface Pinto assisted in tabulation of marks. Martin D'Souza announced the results, Liston D'souza rendered the vote of thanks and Floyd D'Mello compered the programme.

The 20th Konkani poetry recitation competition was held in the afternoon. Liston Derrick D'Souza welcomed the competitors and inaugurated the competition by lighting the lamp. Gerald Concessao, treasurer, competition conveners Joachim Pinto, Vamanjoor and Jossy Theodore were present on the dais.

A total of 45 participants took part in three categories of the competition.

Jossy Theodore conducted the competition and Martin D'Souza assisted in conducting the competition. Veera Menezes and Jacintha D'Souza assisted as volunteers. Competition convenor Joachim Pinto introduced the judges. Poet Jossy Pinto Kinnigoli, Naveen Pereira, Surathkal and Roshan Sequeira (Roshu Bajpe) officiated as judges. Floyd D'Mello rendered the vote of thanks, and Joachim Pinto announced the results.
