Muslim couple invites Hindu seer home, perform 'padapooja' ritual

Gadag, Aug 19 (IANS): A Muslim couple in Gadag district of Karnataka invited a Hindu seer and performed 'padapooja' (ceremony which symbolises surrendering to guru) on Friday.

The family members of Sikandar Badekhan residing in Hudco Colony of Gadag city invited Swaroopananda Swamiji of Omkar Ashram in Kyarakoppa of Dharwad district. Sikandar Badekhan is a retired professor.

All members of the family worshipped Swamiji's feet and later chanted the 'Om Namah Shivaya' mantra in the house. Later, the Swamiji took 'prasad' (lunch) at the house.

Many Muslim families in Gadag district follow Swaroopananda Swamiji. Sikandar Badekhan has been inviting Swamiji to his house for many years.

North Karnataka region is known for religious tolerance and harmonious living in the state for over centuries. Unlike in other places, Hindus and Muslim live side by side harmoniously in most of the villages.

It can be recalled that the authorities made it a point to keep the old tradition of religious procession visiting a dargah in Bengaluru during the Karaga festival despite a section of the people opposing it. At Belur's historical Chennakeshava Rath Yatra also, the ceremony of reading the Quran before the commencement of Rath Yatra was performed in spite of opposition.

People are appreciating the gesture of the Muslim family and the Hindu religious seer for sending a message of unity to the society.

The state is witnessing disturbing developments of revenge killings between Hindus and Muslims, and rising stabbing incidents.

Dear valerian crasta, Uppinangadi, Your comment seem to indicate one way traffic. May I remind you of Santa Shishunala Sharif? It has been a practice since time immemorial to cross barriers however tough of the prevailing time and recognizing good deeds, whether it be Kanakadasa, or even Sant Gyaneshwar. Even when a King went on rampage in olden times, they never used to touch the Grama-devathe and instead visited to seek blessings before war. It is a different matter, things turned to worse after foreign invasion.

It is the turn of the Hindus to reciprocate. Perhaps distribute Kori roti on Eid outside the mosque and greet the fellow Muslims?

First let us Christians start giving Kori rottis to muslim friends and sweets to hindu friends. Let us be first for communal harmony initiation and be role models before preaching others.....

Atithi Devo Bhava! Anyway Holy Scripture says you are gods, Sons or Children of Most High. So all are gods and good to treat others as gods and Jesus Himself washed feet of His Disciples, Saying “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you."

When word " KAFIR " omitted from there book a whole universe will be peaceful and start to respect one another's religion. Now a days disturbances occured everywhere due to some objectionable things mentioned in the book which followed by non understanding arab language people depending only on maulvis. God bless the couple and other's who followed swamiji. Even in Tumkur muslim people are having much respect towards siddaganga matha and there swamijis.

There are two terms Believers and un-believers... Believer's here means those who believe in Allah and unbelievers are those who don't believe in Allah. The Arabic word for unbeliever is Kafir and in plural form is Kafirun. Now tell me what is wrong with the arabic word? Agar Muslim ko Muslim aur Non-Muslim ko Non-Muslim na kahenge, aur believers ko believers and unbelievers ko unbelievers na kahenge to aur kya kahenge? Similarly there are two words, Muslimoon and Kafiroon.

Pooja is a form of respect and love ..just like how muslims and Christians respect their Mullahs and Priests or their religious heads . It is not that he is god . Any human who says I am god ,then he has some problem . But God can take human form if he/she wishes through his own will . In simple terms god lives as LOVE in every human being. We have complicated simple things and called it "your" and "MY" religion and started fighting amongst ourselves.

Dear Shetty. Say, “O disbelievers, I do not worship what you worship. Nor are you worshippers of what I worship. Nor will I be a worshipper of what you worship. Nor will you be worshippers of what I worship. For you is your religion, and for me is my religion.”
