Udupi: Scooterist mowed to death by tanker on Udyavar bridge

Udupi, Aug 10: In a hit-and-run case that occured on Udyavar bridge of NH 66, a scooterist died on the spot after he came under a tanker on Wednesday, August 10 evening.

The deceased is Mohammed Alfaz, a resident of Mallar in Kaup taluk.

Alfaz was traveling on his two-wheeler along with a friend. A tanker hit the scooter from behind and Alfaz was thrown to the road. A tyre of the tanker ran over his head killing him on the spot. However, the pillion rider miraculously escaped without any injury.

Kaup PSI Shrishail and staff visited the spot. A case has been registered in this regard.

The driver of the tanker has escaped with his vehicle.

The scooterist was on his way from Kaup to Udupi when the accident occured.

    The Cops do not keep check on these tankers & heavy vehicles because of nexus between the transporters & cops. Only 2 wheelers r targetted.

    My God ,horrible.How victim must have felt in that moment.Head under the wheel .Murderer slipped away ?Murder it is .Did the victim wear helmet ?Shivering incident .Noone saw the tanker driver or number.?Hope he sleeps well tonight with his fearful heart?One day he has to answer atleast before God when not in court.May the soul of killed one rest in peace.Heartfelt sympathy to his family.

    Just a week back on way to Mnglr expeienced a young KA 19 tanker driver of HP with a beard similar to a goat smoke cigarette while driving in this area as well as have earphones plugged in listening to music & swirl like a mad man from one lane to another
