Udupi: ‘No toll fee collection if work not completed within stipulated time’ - MLA warns NHAI

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (HB)

Udupi, Jul 6: MLA Raghupati Bhat on Wednesday July 6, warned the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) that they will not be allowed to collect the toll if the patch work on NH-66 is not completed within a stipulated period of time.

Speaking after a review meeting with various departments, he expressed his outrage over NH authority’s tardy work in completing the patch work on the NH-66.

“Public, vehicle drivers, commuters are facing serious issues due to unscientific construction. The huge potholes on the highway are posing a threat to the vehicles. The authority must maintain the highway out of the money it collects as toll from motorists for using the road. We will fix a deadline to NHAI to finish off the work failing which they will not be allowed to collect the toll from the motorists,” he warned.

The terms of the tender agreement for the Surathkal-Kundapur stretch is 22 years. The work on the national highway is still pending.

We must laugh at ourselves for having elected these Politicians who talk no sense at all. If these MLAs could not close NITK Surathkal Toll, even after Shri. Nitin Ghadkari ordered that 60 kms gap between two toll is a must, what are they talking now? Mr, Bhat, try and travel like an ordinary citizen on all the roads you will know the difficulty. We know the standard of your works, after what happened to Malpe Beach floating bridge? Can people imagine if it was in a non BJP State and then the statements of these babus? Why and why only the Govt funded projects fail to come to the expected standards ? Why they do not finish within stipulated time frame? So where does the entire money go? Even if you spend 80% of Govt grants and 20% goes for sharing the booty we will still be fine. But we think the ration is reverse in our Govt projects.!! Can you dare to black list the contractors whose work is no up to the mark? Will you dare to publish the contractor's name & contact number on a stone near every road built by them? So that public citizens can call up in case they want to . You have fooled people enough.!!

I feel some time we live in fools paradise. because this guy Raghunapathy Bhatt inaugurated on 6th of May 2022 at Malpe beach a floating bridge which costed the government exchequer Rs 80 lakhs as per the record printed in news papers. On 9th May it collapsed due its bad built condition. May be the same 40 % commission involved. However peoples tax money lost. For this episode he has not uttered a single word. Everybody knows after Kundapur highway work is not much in progress since 8 years. Now all of a sudden Nitin Gadkari announced the inauguration of highway 66 from Mangalore to Goa in the month of December followed barking warning by Raghupathy bhatt. Please note my Daiji friends state assembly election are in beginning of 2023. Now preparation are in full swing to give false promises ad warning.

If he has so much concern and as an MLA let him dish out money from his bustling hotel business and give it to the authorities to immediately start with the works rather than giving ultimatum, that is if he is really serious. If he is capable enough with the vested powers within his control let him do this noble work without issuing any conditions. I wonder whether a single word will come out from his mouth when he meets Nitin Gadkari. Where there is a will there is a way. For these buggars sky is not the limit.
