Mangaluru: Big Bazaar shut down to make way for Reliance?

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (DV)

Mangaluru, Mar 11: Several outlets of the popular shopping mall group Big Bazaar are being shut, but no one knows why. Crores of people loved shopping at Big Bazaar. Now with several of its outlets shut down, consumers are wondering what could be the exact reason and several theories are emerging.

The coastal region has witnessed the closure of several Big Bazaar outlets for the past couple of days. For the consumers sharing an emotional bond with Big Bazaar the closure has been painful.

Rumours are agog that the Big Bazaar and Future Group have been taken over by Reliance Group. It is being said that it will be opened under a different name.

Some claim that Big Bazaar is running under losses and hence it has been shut. It is said that a year ago, the sale of Big Bazaar had been discussed with the Reliance Group. The Big Bazaar outlets had stopped stocking the products also apparently.

Big Bazaar staff when questioned about this claimed that they had to clear the stock as Reliance would take over it. They were also heard saying that the stocks must be cleared within three months. Products of Reliance company will arrive soon, claimed a few staff. However, about three to four months ago sufficient stocks had arrived in the outlets. But the usual crowd at Big Bazaar had reduced. It is also being said that Reliance is preparing to attract consumers and enter the market in a big way and hence shops have been shut.

Anyhow, the credit of introducing the mall culture to the coastal belt goes to Big Bazaar. Several people used to throng the outlets to spend their weekends. Later, with several other malls coming up, Big Bazaar started losing its crowd, it is said.

Unable to understand how Future Enterprises Limited was allowed to tap Fixed Deposits by the authorities till very recently from the public @ 10% + p.a. despite it's weak financial health. Also what will happen to Profit Club Card holders of Big Bazaar. Both Biyani and Ambani are silent on the matter.

Yes...it's really bad luck for me. I bought jaggaery just one day before BB closed down. Next day, when i went there to return the jaggery (melted and cracked box) BB closed down. It is said last year it was working with the collaboration of Amazon, after clearing their stock on sale. One year passed...Now rumors are there Reliance is taking over....Jai Ambaniji.....come soon...welcome namma kudla....

It is a wonderful play by Reliance. To avoid the Future - Amazon conflict, Reliance started paying lease rent for 900 future retail shops and supplied material. Future retail had not paid lease rent for many months. Then suddenly canceled the contract and asked them to exit from the leased shops. So now the future will get bankrupt and Amazon will also lose money. But Biyani will get Biryani.

Modi Shah will not change policies which funnel the savings of Indians to the two Gujarati oligarchs. Maybe some political party will have educated leaders with knowledge and vision to introduce policies which will benefit small and medium sized businesses.

Big bazaar is of Future group -Biyani, they own money to Reliance as they failed to pay up lease money. So all over India RIL has taken over Big Bazaar stores, checkmating Amazon which will not get anything in its fight.
