Jan 22: Dakshina Kannada reports 795 Covid cases, 3 deaths; Udupi adds 763 infections

Mangaluru/Udupi, Jan 22: Dakshina Kannada on Saturday, January 22, reported 795 new coronavirus cases while Udupi registered 763 cases.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,26,954 out of which 5,700 are currently active.

As many as 992 patients were discharged from hospitals on Saturday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,719. Out of which 3 deaths were reported on Saturday.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,13,69,630 as fine in 93,981 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

A total of 763 new cases were reported on Saturday. The total active Covid cases has risen to 5,988. A total of 600 patients were discharged from hospitals on Saturday. 

Udupi taluk reported 497 cases, Kundapura 178 and 84 cases in Karkala.

A total of 10,10,094 people have received first dose of vaccination and 8,53,826 have received both doses.

A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.
