Udupi, Jan 18: “I would like to continue the regular practice of the Tulsi Archana and Bahjan programme in the Sri Krishna Math. Though it is not a firm decision as such, I would support continuing the good practices including those for the welfare of the society,” said Paryaya Swamiji Sri Vidyasagar Theertha at the Paryaya Darbar function held at Sri Janardhana Vedike, Rajangana here on Tuesday, January 18.

The seer also confided that the immense expectations of the people did make him a bit nervous. "I have trust that God will guide me and fulfill my goals", Swamiji said.

Attributing all his actions to the blessings of Guru Vadiraja, Vidyasagara Theertah Swamiji said, “Guru Vadiraja lives in the form of sacred books. Shastras are the replica of Guru Vadiraja. I pray to god that he gives me the strength to keep the same confidence”.

He expressed joy at the support he received from the people whom he had requested not to take part in Paryaya.

Sri Vidyadheesha Theertha of Palimaru Math said that, “Sri Vidyasagara Theertha swamiji dedicated himself to serve Lord Krishna. We can see his sacrifice and devotion to Lord Krishna.” Sri Vidyavallabha Theertha of Kaniyur Math, blessing the gathering, said, “We are the children of God. The religious centers should involve themselves in promoting the religion."

The immediate past paryaya seer Sri Vishwapriya Theertha Swamiji of Admar Math said, “Our devotion should be strong. External desires are temporary. Body is an asset given by god. One should not have feelings of ego. As this was my first paryaya it is a milestone in my life. I will continue my social activities like before.”

Sri Vishwaprasanna Theertha swamiji of Pejawar Math prayed for the peace and happiness in this world.

Sri Vishwavallabha Theertha Swamiji of Sode Math said, “Power breeds selfishness. In politics, there are elections to select a leader but here it is quite different. The outgoing Swamiji hands over the charge after completing the two years term without any compulsion or external influence.”

Sri Vidyarajeshwar Theertha Swamiji, junior pontiff of Palimaru Math, Sri Vedavardhana Theertha Swamiji of Shiroor Math also delivered their messages in the first Paryaya Darbar.

Dr G Parameshwar, former deputy chief minister said, “Indian culture is diverse and unique. Our culture dates back to thousands of years. India is the most beautiful and richest culture in the world. It should be preserved. We should believe in Lord Krishna."

MLA Raghupati Bhat, Justice Dinesh Kumar, Shyamala Kundar, member, National Women's Commission, former ministers Abhayachandra Jain and Vinay Kumar Sorake, MLC Manjunath Bhandary, Mahabaleshwarar Rao, Sunil Parari and others were present.
