Sullia: Children repair damaged road - Judge visits spot, expresses displeasure

Daijiworld Media Network - Sullia (SP)

Sullia, Oct 26: A photo of two young students of a school repairing a road leading to the school with a hoe in hand on the occasion of the reopening of the school at Mandepu, Bellare in the taluk had become viral in the social websites recently. Valleesha Rama and Tanvi, children of Santosh and Keshava, who are second standard students, were the ones who tried their best to repair the damaged road to their house.

Taking note of the reports, judge of the senior civil court here, Somashekhar visited the spot and directed the concerned to address the road problem. He checked the condition of the road and questioned the parents of the two children. The parents reportedly told him that because the road is used by them and that the panchayat had not repaired the road even after submitting petition, the road was repaired by them and that during the voluntary work, the children had joined hands with them.

The judge then visited the gram panchayat office and questioned the panchayat president and panchayat development officer (PDO). He asked police sub inspector, Anjaneya Reddy, to register cases and file first information reports against the parents who got the work done through their children, panchayat president and PDO for not repairing the road, and against school teachers who did not take due care of the children.

When the sub inspector suggested that the road can be got repaired instead of registering cases, the judge agreed. He directed to repair the road immediately and submit a report and photo to him. It is learnt that panchayat development officer Anusha, visited the spot along with panchayat staff and undertook steps to conduct temporary repairs for the road for now.

Ruben Pinto Australia ,it is not correct. Why children should d the work?Once dont the always in future too they ahve to do.Its Panchayats duty to look such things. What Judge did and said is correct.Children are there to study, and their way should be safe.Thats Panchayats duty to see safe guard the public work.He has done correct verdict. Now he said to do the temperory work ?Yes it is same This temperory work will not bring the good result.By next rain it will be same as before. Why not do once for all.?Good children started the work otherwise it would remain for decades.

AM sure people will still elect Anusha based on Hindutva agenda. Your children will continue to repair roads as long as you vote based purely on religion. Congratulations!!

I appreciate this judge. When we were in elementary, we were made to pick and bring cow dung from far off places....in the big buckets or bhattis (not plastic, metal ones) during class time....to draw water and fill the tanks...uproot the grass....cut the bushes....Yesterday jossey sir was saying children do not know to speak...even they cannot recite simple tables of 2/3/4 ....i mean baay paata maggi barudilla......Rest is ok sweeping the class rooms/campus etc. During the inspector's visit, fat sticks/rulers were thrown outside the windows. Through the same windows, after lunch break, back bench boys, jump out and go for smoking, by keeping "we two" match box with them 24 hours and from there some escape for movie to Udupi. Boys enjoyed and girls suffered at home and in school by doing hard work and that time also girls were scoring well inspite of all the hardships. That's how we can face the world toda....tiger, goliath, cannibal whoever....hmmm

What sort of judge is he to reprimand the parents and children for doing some social work ?? If he is so concerned , he should have got it done in time by the responsible authorities. He is discouraging the younger generation instead of addressing their problems.

Children can only but speak the truth -- One is reminded of the folk tale ---THE EMPERORS NEW CLOTHES --- “But the Emperor has nothing at all on!” said a little child. “Listen to the voice of the child!”

I am a student. I commend the job done by the school children. Nothing wrong in it if the Administration is sleeping. The judge should have realised the dangers of potholes and bad roads. Is our Judiciary working for contractors? Why cant the judge reprimand the Government? Pathatic

why do you admire the job done by children? on the contrary your mind should think why they have to do that job? what for panchayats and municipalities are there? why we are paying taxes? where the grant for roads and other infrastructure goes? as a student your mind should think this way.....otherwise whole country will be doing the job of municipality and city corporations and they will be enjoying fat salaries plus bribe...

Very true Kujumaji......i really salute your comment. I have gone through it. Then when my dad noticed some wounds on my hands and legs, he approached the school authorities. Then they stopped. The management will not make the children to work belonging to hi fi families. Those children sit and make fun of other kids....Some are defending the acts here ....disgusting. Those who defend the school, let them make their children learn their household chores rather than allowing them to sit quiet. Let them learn to wash their clothes, vessels they eat, sweep and mop. Maneye modala paata shale....

Cannot agree more with you Cynthia sister....i myself am an alumni of renowned St Aloysius college of mlore and have seen in my own eyes how the Jesuit priests used to discriminate their attitude towards rich and poor boys...I was financially poor that time but brilliant in studies...not all priests but most of them..some were really good like Fr Bertram..i always respect and remember him.
