Bengaluru, Oct 25: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has debunked the Congress charge that Vidhana Soudha has been locked and all ministers were busy campaigning for BJP candidates in by-elections is baseless.

Speaking to media representatives in Vijayapura during his election campaign work, he said no government work has suffered as ministers have been campaigning for two or three days.

“We know what Congress leaders did when the party was in power,’’ he said pointing out that he has entrusted responsibilities to all ministers and they are performing their duties.

Bommai asked why should Congress leaders criticise if the ministers campaigned for the ruling party and mentioned that they were doing their duty on behalf of the party.

In Hanagal assembly constituency there is a visible social engineering and the ruling BJP is getting unprecedented support from all sections of society, the Chief Minister said and claimed that the BJP candidate Shivaraj Sajjanar will triumph with a massive majority.

The Chief Minister defended the release of the vision document during the election campaign or speaking about the government’s achievements. He contended that the ruling party has to speak about its achievements and its commitments.

Answering a question on why Prime Minister Narendra Modi is hogging media limelight on the country’s achievement of administering 100 vaccine doses when the scientists and health warriors had be lauded, Bommai said it was the Prime Minister who led the country during the pandemic and was the first to meet the scientists and pharma company representatives for vaccine production.
