Varun Gandhi questions Central govt's agriculture policy

New Delhi, Oct 23 (IANS): Tweeting a video of a farmer who set his crop on fire as he was unable to sell his produce in mandis, BJP MP from Uttar Pradesh's Pilbhit Varun Gandhi on Saturday said the Centre should reconsider its agriculture policy as it is the need of the hour.

"What has the system reduced farmers to? To do a re-think on the agri policies is the need of the hour," he said.

The farmer, identified as Samodh Singh, had been trying to sell his produce in mandis for the past 15 days, Varun Gandhi claimed.

Earlier, on October 21, questioning the government's relief policy regarding the floods in the lowlands in the state, Varun Gandhi had said that if people have to help themselves even during such a crisis, then what is the role of a government.

He had also questioned the steps taken by the Adityanath government in connection with the Lakhimpur Kheri violence that claimed eight lives.

The BJP leader has been saying that farmers agitation cannot be suppressed by violence.

The saffron party has been facing embarrassment due to Gandhi's recent statements.

The BJP Govt has made a mockery of Parlimentary Democracy by passing these Farm Bills without any discussion in the house or taken any Parlimentary bodies into confidence. It is clear to the people of our country that these three farm bills was a dubious case of match fixing by Modi and Amit Shah for their crony capitalists friends like Ambani and Adani. The elaborate advance preparations , go downs, super markets, land acquisitions and other arrangements by industrialists Abmani and Adani are already in the public domain. These crony capitalists will then dominate the agriculture sector and render the farmers vulnerable and vanquished. . They finally passed it in the Rajya Sabha in a most deceitful manner through a voice vote just to please their Crony Capitalist friends at the expense of the Farmers. A Suit Boot Ki Sarkar that is totally insensitive, Callous, Indifferent, Arrogant and Autocratic that cares two hoots for the lower sections of our society including farmers. "Since Independence, it is for the first time that an arrogant government has come to power. It is not even looking at the pain and sufferings of farmers, forget about the common man,"If Agriculture is a State subject the why has the center passed Bills on Farm Laws on Agriculture

Congress doesn’t sideline and discriminate its candidates who speak thier mind freely in fact encourages them. Unlike in BJP where Varun Gandhi has been discriminated and dropped from planing committee for raising people’s grievances. All BJP MLAs are treated like boot licking slaves in thier party without freedom and democracy and to speak against opposition like caged parrots.
