Udupi: No forcible conversions at any Christian prayer centers - Prashant Jathanna

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (MS)

Udupi, Sep 28: “Forcible religious conversions are not taking place in any of the prayer centres belonging to the Christian community. In case, if such a thing is happening, has the police department given permission to right wing groups to raid directly? If the police department has not given any permission, then why not a suo moto case be filed on such groups?” questioned Prashant Jathanna, president of Federation of Udupi district Indian Christian Rights.

Jathanna was speaking at the press conference that was organized at the press club in the city. He further said, “Of late, in Karnataka, accusation of religious conversion is being heard frequently. It is condemnable that without any evidence this kind of false rumours are created and society is poisoned. Christian community is always against forcible conversion or enticing someone into conversion.

“The Christian community started educational institutions in the country with the intention of creating good citizens in the society. Crores of Indian have got education in Christian educational institutions. None of the institution has said that we will provide you education if you get converted to Christianity.

“Recently at the prayer center in Karkala, no such incident has taken place as projected. Anyone can go to prayer center of any religion for peace of mind.

“It is really unfortunate that some organizations raided a prayer center in Karkala recently and gave statement that they done this in cooperation with the police department and the police department did not take any action on them.

“If these organizations have genuine feelings on the downtrodden, then they should first stop treating them like untouchables. The government has to take suitable action and prevent such occurrences in future. The recent Karkala incident should be investigated,” he said.

Dr Neri Cornelio, president IFKCA, Lewis Lobo, honorary president IFKCA, Robert Menezes Karkala, Peter Danti, secretary Indian Christian Federation, Gladson Karkada, convener Indian Christian Federation, and Thomas Suarez, trustee, SMOS Cathedral Brahmavar were present.

There is a confusion & confrontation within the Christian community..., one school of thought says.... The Father God almighty loves everyone... whether he is Christian or not... without any fear or favor..., and it include non-Christians also.., and as per that ideology... no one need to be converted...., even the worst sinner on earth has a place in the Kingdom of God known as heaven.., and with this ideology/narrative about Christianity.., there is no need for anybody to get converted to Christianity just follow the ideal of Christ... (one may wonder how come a fisherman provide the explanation about Christianity .., there is enough YouTube video's available to understand each other … after all the Apex court of Hindustan ruled that Hinduism is a way of life.. embedded & reflected in our culture/living.. and for political benefit the crony's supported by Britishers slaves..., trying to redefine this concept as a religion)the true battle in Hindustan is for REAL Vs FEKU Hinduism..., ofcourse.. Hinduism is khatre meh hai... bcoz of FEKU Hinduism...,

ca girishkk mangalore,Here there is a bit of misunderstanding I feel. sure the Heaven is for all there, but to reach Heaven ,way is difficult. One has to struggle for it.Even here on earth ,one has to work for it .Same with Heaven. But noone says Heaven is only for christians.Christians too are christians only by baptizing ,a sacrament that assures as christ.whatever confession it is.By becoming christ ,he too have to live accordingly,by following 10commandments.we Roman catholics follow it,such as not to murder, believe in one God not ten Gods. That makes him faithful ,One God is for all whether muslim Hindu or catholic. But everyone worship their own way..have to respect your parents, etc.

Stop forced and non forced conversion. The catholic church should stay away from all these controversies. Every religion preach life after after death but no one has seen heaven still. Instead be a good human while alive in this world and follow your religion, you born.

    S. J. Mangalore, I quote your comment: If there are no forcible religious conversions, why you have to oppose the law to stop conversion? Unquote. If no forcible conversions, why the idiot government should waste time in making forcible conversion laws, what made bommai to think of such kind of useless laws. Why not bring up stringent laws against atrocities and rapes on women. Bommai should feel shame on bringing un-necessary laws.

They cannot bring anti-conversion law in the normal manner, because that would be against the Constitution. The word 'Forcible' is added only as a way to get around this problem. But once the law is passed, any kind of conversion can be deemed as 'forcible' by the Police and persons involved can be harrassed and punished. So, they are playing a game with the constitution of the country and the people of the country.

The definition of conversion ...itself is a mysterious thing..., some Christian preachers say... unless you born again you won't become christian..., just b'coz one say he/she himself as christian.., it is too confusing..., when christians themselves have doubt & clarity required to know themselves whether they are christians or not..., who the hell these cheddi organizations getting consused... about chrstianity or conversion..., take one 90 or chai... then rest ......

For Luring and Forcible conversions of Congress leaders; your valuable advice is imperative for bjp. We, the Christians are well aware of our faith, religion and all our denominations are not confronting each other in the faith like your caste systems. Dalits are fined for entering into the temples or killed by shooting.

Following recent Divine message on judgement to all also about Why to choose God and heaven and not Devil and hell for all eternity to John Leary dated Friday, September 17, 2021: ..... Jesus said: “My people, you have seen many people who seek fame and money in this world, and they neglect to take care of their soul and their spiritual life. The Gospel is clear when you understand the difference between this human life and the spiritual life in heaven. (Matt. 16:26) ‘For what does it profit a man, if he gains the whole world, but suffers the loss of his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?’ Your soul is immortal, and you were made to be with Me in heaven for all eternity. Every soul has free will and you need to choose your eternal destination either in heaven with My love, or in hell with the hate of the devil. Do not be misled by the creature comforts of your humanity. This life is only temporary in the body, but the soul leaves the body at death and you will be judged based on how much you love Me and your neighbor. So choose life, but remember you are choosing where you will be for all eternity. I treasure souls the most beyond anything in your current life. My people should treasure their souls as well, and choose to be with the One who loves you.” Ref: http://www.johnleary.com/index.php/?cat=3&order=DESC

The Christian community is shrinking since independence, today they are barely 2 % constantly at loggerheads between denominations and sects !! The vital need of the hour is to close ranks, work together for the marginalized families, in distress both financially and socially... This naked up manship of on sect over the other will destroy Christians across India !!!

    1. If there are no forcible religious conversions, why you have to oppose the law to stop conversion? Why all of a sudden the Christian religious leaders and some lay leaders are pleading not to bring the legislation to stop conversion? 2. When the so called 'untouchable' are converted into Christianity, are they taken into main stream? They remain untouchable there also? 3. There are so many splinter groups who convert even Catholics and Protestants into their fold? Why do you support them by opposing anti-conversion law? Whatever you do, If the ruling party wants it can bring the legislation. Even opposition party will support them because all Hindus want anti-conversion law. It is better to keep quiet and support the people of your own community. Strengthen your respective communities by educating the youth into professional and administrative lines.

As Mr. Prashant Jathanna said no forcible conversions (including enticement with monetary or material benefits) are taking place in any of the prayer centres or churches. Why should anybody be converted by providing financial or material benefits? What commission or material reward will the preacher get by converting him/her? We are least bothered about increasing our numbers. What happened to the complaint recently filed by the one who accused the other of conversion? Worship centres are raided by fringe groups on mere suspicion to gain publicity or attain political mileage. Let the Govt. bring in anti-conversion law and and let the police find out where and how conversions are taking place.

Even you may end up seeing jesus in your dreams. Till then I keep you and your family in my prayers in christ. Amen. Take care bro Jeevan.

There were 2 incidents of moral policing by 2 groups of different affiliations in Karnataka. In one incident, police charged sec. 153 (A), 506, 34, 341, 504 and 323. In another case they only charged sec. 341, 504 and 506. It seems there is no uniformity in criminal law.

First you try to end all caste discrimination and untouchability in the society and treat everyone equal. Second no body can convert anyone unless that conversation comes from heart of the person converting. If the faith of the person is strong in what he believes in no one can convert him at any cost. Luring with what ....thottes, candies, bachchire , bajjai, pugghere.... comment something which makes sense.

People know no illegal activities are taking place behind police. But BD and VHP want some controversy to erupt to make headlines for vote bank. If everything peaceful without any illegal activities still these fringe elements indulge and participate in creating this drama same as cow thefts where thier own goons were involved to fabricate and promote this activity.
