Sep 27: DK reports 83 corona cases, Udupi 24; five deaths in twin districts

Mangaluru/Udupi, Sep 27: Dakshina Kannada on Monday, September 27 reported 83 new coronavirus cases and four deaths, while Udupi registered 24 new cases and one death.

As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 18,36,233 samples have been tested so far, out of which 17,22,196 have turned out to be negative.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,14,037 out of which 997 are currently active.

As many as 125 patients were discharged from hospitals on Monday.

The district recorded four deaths due to coronavirus on Monday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,652.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,06,73,470 as fine in 87,807 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 11,24,712 samples have been tested so far.

A total of 24 new cases were reported on Monday, taking the total number of cases to 76,177 out of which 309 are currently active.

A total of 87 patients were discharged from hospitals on Monday.

Out of 24 new patients, 15 are in home isolation while 9 are in Covid-designated hospitals.

Among the 24 cases, as many as 14 are symptomatic and 10 are asymptomatic.

While Udupi reported 14 new cases, Kundapur registered 6 and Karkala 4.

Coronavirus has claimed 474 lives in the district so far.

So far 8,90,996 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 3,95,952 have received the second dose.

A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far and one case is active.
