‘The 5 R’s of Parenting’- interactive virtual session held by Manipal School

Mangaluru, Sep 26: As part of Manipal School’s annual parent engagement activity, the school had arranged an interactive virtual session on September 24, 2021. The event, ‘The 5 R’s of Parenting’ was presented by Aarti C Rajaratnam.

Aarti has a Master's in Applied Psychology with a specialization in Clinical Psychology – Childhood and Adolescent Mental Healthfrom the University of Delhi, South Campus. She is a Master Practitioner and Trainer in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and istrained in Transactional Analysis (TA), Dream Analysis and Counselling. She is a compassionate psychologist, innovative educator, and best-selling author. She has several prestigious talks to her credit and has regular columns in leading newspapers and magazines.

The session was attended by around 200 participants which included parents of Manipal School students, teachers of the school, and the school Principal, Anuradha Shivaram. The event opened with a welcome speech by the principal followed by the guest introduction. Aarti conducted a hands-on session where she explained the 5 R’s of parenting – Routine, Reflection, Regulation, Relationships, and Restriction. She also answered various queries that parents and teachers had on the psychological and developmental aspects of childhood and growing up. The crucial topic of online learning and its impact on students was also touched upon.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks being delivered by Meghana. The event was well received and appreciated by parents and teachers alike. Parents got a chance to discuss parenting challenges and explore effective parenting skills. The takeaway from this session was indeed multifold.
