Sep 21: DK reports 114 corona cases, Udupi 73; three deaths in twin districts

Mangaluru/Udupi, Sep 21: Dakshina Kannada on Tuesday, Sep 21 reported 114 new coronavirus cases and two deaths, while Udupi registered 73 new cases and one death.

As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 17,77,090 samples have been tested so far, out of which 16,63,684 have turned out to be negative.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,13,406 out of which 1,143 are currently active.

As many as 134 patients were discharged from hospitals on Tuesday.

The district recorded two deaths due to coronavirus on Tuesday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,635.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,06,38,870 as fine in 87,462 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 10,00,218 samples have been tested so far.

A total of 73 new cases were reported on Tuesday, taking the total number of cases to 75,860 out of which 751 are currently active.

A total of 274 patients were discharged from hospitals on Tuesday.

Out of 73 new patients, 65 are in home isolation while 8 are in Covid-designated hospitals.

Among the 73 cases, as many as 34 are symptomatic and 39 are asymptomatic.

While Udupi reported 40 new cases, Kundapur registered 11 and Karkala 22.

Coronavirus has claimed 469 lives in the district so far including one death on Tuesday.

So far 8,75,932 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 3,70,498 have received the second dose.

A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far and one case is active.
