Udupi: Teachers’ Day celebration of district limited to 50 people only

Udupi, Sep 3: Teachers’ Day of this academic year (2021-22) will be celebrated in a simple manner due to Covid restrictions. District administration has taken stringent measures to ensure that the function will be limited to 50 people including guests.

Prior to the onset of Covid, Teachers’ Day was celebrated in the Shamili auditorium near Ambalpady. This year the programme is organized in accordance with government guidelines. Only people representatives and officials as per protocol will take part in the programme. Out of 50 people, 15 are teachers who have won district awards. Rest 35 are officials of district administration.

This year’s Teachers’ Day celebration will be held on September 5 at 9.30 am at St Cecily high school in the city. During the occasion Teachers’ Day of 2021-22 will be celebrated and awards will be distributed to winners of district level teacher awards. The programme will be inaugurated by Sunil Kumar, minister for energy, Kannada and culture. The programme will be presided over by Raghupati Bhat, MLA of Udupi legislative constituency. All MLAs and MLCs of the district will take part.

Deputy commissioner of the district, CEO, Udupi zilla panchayat, SP of the district, district secretary will be the chief guests.

The names of 17 people who will receive awards on the occasion are as follows:

Awardees in lower primary section:

1. Shantha Pai, assistant teacher, Government higher primary school, Yadadi, Brahmavar zone

2. Shekhara Ganiga, assistant teacher, government lower primary school, Kismati, Byndoor zone

3. Manjunatha Shetty, assistant teacher, government lower primary school, Kuchoor-02, Karkala zone

4. Suresh Shetty, assistant teacher, government lower primary school, Konjady, Kundapur zone

5. Reshma M N, assistant teacher, government lower primary school, Kuta-82, Udupi zone

Awardees in higher primary section:

1. Dinakara Shetty, head teacher, government higher primary school, Badanidiyoor, Brahmavar zone

2. Chandra Narayana Billava, assistant teacher, government higher primary school, Shiroor, Byndoor zone

3. Narendra Kamath, physical education teacher, UBCM higher primary school, Padoor, Udupi zone

4. Shaili Prema Kumari, head teacher, UBCM higher primary school, Padoor, Udupi zone

5. A. Sri Ganesh Herala, assistant teacher, government higher primary school, Allady Arthi, KUndapur zone B. Srinivasa, head teacher, government higher primary school, Shedimane, Kundapur zone

Awardees in the high school section:

1. P V Ananda Saligrama, MNDSM high school, Mudradi, Karkala

2. Santhosh Kumar Shetty, head teacher, government high school, Heskathur, Kundapur

3. Subramanya Tantri, head teacher, SVS high school, Katapadi, Udupi
